Barcelona must sell if they're to compete with Real Madrid this summer in the transfer market.

Real's presidential elections will bring fresh excitement - and money - to Barca's bitter rivals and the La Liga leaders face being put in the shade unless they make drastic decisions about selling several of their players, says the Guardian.

Barcelona are nursing an unexpected €30m (£27.3m) deficit after the Catalan broadcaster TV3 refused to cover a fine imposed on the club for unilaterally breaking a contract with another television company, Audiovisual Sport, to screen its matches. Barça have banned TV3 from the Camp Nou in an unsuccessful attempt to force payment, but are also preparing to sell to make up the shortfall.

Those being touted around Europe - particularly the Premier League - are Thierry Henry, Samuel Eto'o, Seydou Keita and Yaya Toure.
