Barcelona have been encouraged over the delays regarding new contract talks for Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic. The Sun says Vidic has been told to forget about a new contract until 2011.

Vidic is a target for Barca and his representatives are looking for a new deal with United.

He will have two years left on his current £70,000-a-week contract at the end of this term.

But United chiefs have told the Serb defender there is no chance of a pay increase until he has a year remaining.

The Red Devils only regard Wayne Rooney as a special case when it comes to new deals.
