Barcelona intend to sit down with Lionel Messi and discuss a new contract upgrade in the coming weeks.
El Mundo Deportivo says both parties haven't considered Messi's deal since 2009, when he inked a seven-year agreement through to 2016.
Since then, Messi has won three Ballon d'Ors and there is also the matter of the 'Beckham Law' being scrapped - meaning all players will have their wages taxed at 56 per cent.
Barca are prepared to upgrade Messi's current terms and also extend the deal - so giving him a virtual lifetime contract.
