Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano admits he came close to joining Napoli in the summer.

Mascherano penned new terms last month.

"The opportunity to join Napoli was there," Mascherano told Il Mattino.

"I have a good relationship with Rafa, but he knows that I could not come and how things have turned out.

"I will finish off my career in Spain and I am very happy."
