Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano admits there was some interest from Napoli over the summer.
The Argentine played for Napoli coach Rafa Benitez at Liverpool and was linked with Napoli before the start of the season.
"I spoke with Rafa Benitez about the chance of going to Napoli," said Mascherano. "But there has never been an official proposal for me.
"Benitez has taught me a lot in my career, but (Pep) Guardiola was also important."
It was Guardiola who transformed Mascherano from a midfielder to a centre-half during his time in charge of Barca.
