Barcelona defender Gerard Pique's new contract includes a massive hike to his buyout clause.

Sport says Pique's new contract with the club, which was agreed on Thursday, sees his release clause rise to €500 million.

Only Lionel Messi, at €700 million, has a higher buyout option than the defender.

Pique's deal had been due to expire in 2019 and his release clause was €200 million, having initially been 50 million when he joined in 2008 -- so it's multiplied by 10 in 10 years.
