Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has been hospitalised with a virus.

Pique missed training this week with a stomach bug and has now reportedly been admitted to hospital to aid his recovery.

It's nothing serious, Catalunya Radio report, but something which can be dealt with more effectively in hospital.

Pique will not be in the Barça squad which travels to Las Palmas this weekend for a vital game in the La Liga title race.

"He will be missing, he's not been able to train. We hope he's better soon," Barca coach Luis Enrique confirmed in his pre-game press conference.
