Barcelona could announce a new contract agreement with coach Pep Guardiola next month.
Barca president Sandro Rosell has been pressing Guardiola to commit to a longer deal than their current 12-month arrangement.
Both men met last week, along with Guardiola's agent, Jose Maria Orobitg, to discuss the situation. Rosell made it clear to Guardiola that his offer isn't about power or prestige, but to bring greater stability to the club.
Guardiola is now warming to Rosell's thinking and AS says an agreement could be confirmed during January.
The silence on both sides of the table suggests a deal is close.
