Barcelona believe they can sign Arsenal captain Robin van Persie for €25 million.

Sport says Barca have been informed Arsenal will begin negotiations - should they be forced to sell - at the €25 million mark.

Van Persie's agent, Kees Vos, said: "We never talk publicly about the situation of our players, but at the end of the season we'll talk with Arsenal."

It's suggested the price may be lower than expected because of Van Persie's contract situation. He is inside the final 18 months of his current deal and could sign a pre-contract with Barca next January should he fail to agree a new agreement with the Gunners this summer.
