Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde is confident Denis Suarez's injury suffered in the Catalan Super Cup on Wednesday night isn't a major setback.

Although the midfielder had been performing well, an injury brought some concern as to how it could now halt his progress.

However, his coach has revealed it isn't a major knock.

"I was pleased with how he was playing because he was very committed to the game and what we were trying to do," Valverde said after the match, which Barcelona won on penalties.

"It is a pity about his injury, it is just a blow to his abductor muscle.

"I don't think he'll be out for a long time and he'll be back with us again shortly."
