Barcelona coach Valverde tightlipped on January market plans

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde is tightlipped on their January market plans.

Injuries in defence are likely to force the Catalan giants into the market, something that Valverde is acutely aware of.

"There are internal issues that we must address," he admitted. "As we don't talk about incoming signings, we also don't talk about departures.

"We pay attention to the market but it's important that our current players know they are the best options for us."

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo's fifth Ballon d'Or triumph has taken a lot of the headlines earlier in the week, however the Spanish coach believes Lionel Messi is still the best.

"Everyone has their own opinions," he stated. "Everyone can make their feelings public.

"For me, the best players are the ones I have here, starting with Messi."
