Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde says reports of new contract talks are "absurd".

Valverde's in the second year of a two-year deal, although he does have the option to extend his contract into a third year.

"I have not spoken with anyone at the club," he said in a press conference on Friday. "We're in August. We know how things go, coaches live week to week. The season's long.

"This isn't something which I am concerned about. It's absurd getting into things like this. The season just started. We know what's coming: if things go well, later this will come up because everything has gone well.

"We will see. All I want now is to try to win all the games we play and make everyone happy."
