Barcelona circle as Arsenal skipper Cesc ducked Fulham trip for Spanish GP

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas skipped the last game of the season at Fulham to attend the Spanish F1 grand prix.

The London Evening Standard says although Gunners' officials insisted it is club policy that injured players are not required to attend away games, the sight of Fabregas at the Spanish Grand Prix instead of Craven Cottage will reignite the annual speculation over his move to Barcelona.

In the 24-year-old's defence, a thigh problem rendered him unavailable for Arsenal's final match and he posted on Twitter that he would watch the game on television with his grandfather.

But the fact an earlier tweet including a picture of Fabregas at the Circuit de Catalunya - Barcelona's heartland no less - was later removed indicated his absence was at best ill-advised and at worst an ominous portent.

Barcelona have so far pursued Fabregas with much less vigour than last year - although there is plenty of time for that to change - and the picture is confused by interest from Inter Milan and boss Arsene Wenger's steadfast refusal to allow his talisman to leave.
