Barcelona sports chief Andoni Zubizarreta has paid tribute to Lionel Messi.

Messi struck a hat-trick in victory over Espanyol.

"How many joys and goals has he given us? He seems to have no desire to stop doing this. He makes us enjoy ourselves and for all his teammates, he not only makes goals, plays everywhere and that is fortunate for us.

"He enjoys it here. He's happy playing with his teammates and feels protected."
