Barcelona chief Zubi denies Arsenal skipper Cesc would block youngsters progress

Barcelona sports chief Andoni Zubizarreta insists buying Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas will not block the progress of their young players.

The father of Thiago Alcantara has complained about the prospect of Cesc moving to the Nou Camp.

"This issue is apparently serious enough to feed speculation about the future of Thiago," Zubizarreta told Sport.

"Thiago has to be patient. We've seen in the past that it's not easy to become an important first team player. Several players didn't really manage to do so until they turned 23. Players need some time to mature and to develop.

"The possible arrival of Fabregas won't hurt Alcantara's chances. Talented players can always play together. This might have been different in the past, but things have changed."
