Barcelona finance chief Jordi Mestre insists they knocked £10 million off Liverpool's asking price for Luis Suarez. Mestre has detailed the figures paid for the Uruguay international, who made his Barca debut on Monday in the Gamper Trophy.
He revealed: "His buyout clause was 75 million pounds sterling and we reached an agreement for 65 million, which is 80 million euros.
"His buyout clause here is 200 million."
Mestre says Barca's officials deserve congratulations over the deal.
"The fee was fundamentally down to two factors: the skill of those negotiating and Suárez's desire to come."
