Barcelona captain Carles Puyol has signed a new deal to 2016.
Puyol put pen to paper in a signing ceremony yesterday.
He said: "My idea was to continue here, I want to be here as many years as I can. I'm thankful for the effort the Club has made, signing this contract is important, but what's really important is finishing it."
Puyol also talked about his longevity in the sport:
"Staying in shape is very important and I'm very aware that I have to take care of myself on and off the pitch. That's what I try to do.
"I have to take this one season at a time, but my hope is to keep on playing until I'm 40."
