Barcelona board consider allowing Andres Iniesta to leave

Barcelona's board is in a dilemma over Andres Iniesta's contract situation.

The captain is entering the final year of his current deal and is ready to discuss new terms after the Copa del Rey final.

Don Balon says, however, negotiations will not be straightforward, with Iniesta facing a massive pay-cut.

For now, Iniesta is the second highest paid player at the club, with a salary rising to €18 million including bonuses - and directors will insist his form doesn't warrant such terms to continue.

The other problem is that Barca's coffers are bare. The club face having to sell younger talent in order to cover Iniesta's next contract.

As such, allowing Iniesta to leave for another European club is now a very real option this summer.
