Barcelona, Arsenal alerted as Kalou unsettled at Chelsea

Barcelona are interested in Chelsea attacker Salomon Kalou.

The News of the World says Barcelona are not the only foreign club interested in Kalou. Fellow La Liga side Sevilla are also keeping tabs on him, while the player may also be tempted to link up with his old manager Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan.

Mourinho is a fan of the African Young Player of the Year, but Arsenal are also on the hunt for a striker with Robin van Persie out for the season and Nicklas Bentdner still not fit.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger admits he needs to buy in the January transfer window and may be tempted to make a bid for Kalou.

The striker, who joined Chelsea in an £8m transfer from Feyenoord in 2006, actually had a two-week trial at Arsenal before joining the Dutch club.

And Wenger has monitored his career ever since.

I really hope Chelsea sign no one. That will be a huge slap in the face to all you glory hunters.

Finally we will see some transfer action, with Kalou as the sacrificial lamb

Our options:
Aguero: good, linked to Chelsea, but should be signed but stay in Spain to further his developement, not Kalou's replacement
Pato: repeat Aguero but Italy for Spain
Villa: linked to Chelsea, good finisher but a bit old and would only come if Anelka went to the bench
Torres: all depends on when Liverpool are ready to sell
Pazzini: Good choice, cheaper than Torres, Villa
Dzeko: seems to have his heart set on Milan, other than that good choice
Gomis: the intermediate next Drogba (before Lukaku), cheaper than Dzeko, Villa, Torres
Nilmar: underrated talent, 3rd striker at Villareal so wouldn't necessarily force Anelka off the field, good choice
Mata: young, talented, fast, good choice
Krasic: expensive but talented, good choice
Babel: should be reasonably cheap but a risk is Rafa to blame for his poor form at Liverpool, or is he rubbish?
Milevskiy: should be relatively cheap, good choice
Suarez: good in eredivise, thats the good and bad points, ie Kezman
Adriano: volatile and wants to stay in Brazil, but can be a good finisher
Gignac: not on Chelsea's radar, other than that a good choice

FWD: 1. Aguero or Pato
2. Villa, Torres, Pazzini, Dzeko, Gomis or Nilmar
3. Mata, Krasic, Babel or Milevskiy
4. Lukaku or Joselu
MID: 1. Franck Ribery or Bastian Schweinsteiger
2. David Silva
3. Marek Hamsik, Rafael van der Vaart, Angel di Maria or Alan Dzagoev (preferably two)
4. Jack Rodwell, Neymar, Alex Teixeira, Miralem Pjanic or Lucas Piazon
DEF: 1. Darijo Srna
2. Juan Manuel Vargas
3. Dejan Lovren
