Barcelona are chasing Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Andrei Arshavin.

Real Madrid sports chief Pedja Mijatovic wants to land the Russia international in January, but he faces competition from Barca where coach Pep Guardiola has demanded the attacking midfielder's signing.

"He's a very good player, but now I have my players," said Guardiola. "When they open the market for winter, then we'll decide whether to buy, depending on if there is any setback. But yes, he is a very good player."
