Barbarouses looking for more efficiency from Brisbane Roar

Kosta Barbarouses knows the Brisbane Roar need to be much more efficient in front of goal if they are to be a genuine title threat this season. Saturday night saw the Roar held to a 1-1 draw by the Newcastle Jets despite having 23 more shots on goal and Barbarouses has urged his teammates to make the most of their chances when they take on the Central Coast Mariners at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night.

"It was disappointing not to get the win," Barbarouses said.

"We had a lot of the possession but we didn't make the most of it.

"I think we were unlucky but I also think scoring first helped them a bit because they could sit back and soak up the pressure which I think they did."

Brisbane are currently second on the table, a point clear of the Mariners, and the former Wellington Phoenix man is well aware that it is a vital clash for both clubs.

"It's a huge game, especially not wining on Saturday when I think we could've," he added.

"It's a huge game as well because obviously if we take the three points, it stops them from getting any.

"It's a six-pointer in terms of our season and we'll need it to catapult ourselves to Saturday's game against the Victory which is going to be another big one."
