AC Milan director Barbara Berlusconi says the club deserves credit for taking a punt on Mario Balotelli in January.

The former Manchester City striker played a big role in their Champions League qualification this season.

Barbara said: "The credit for third goes to everyone, also the club who spent some important numbers during the January transfer session [for the signature of Mario Balotelli from Manchester City].

"The club therefore has chosen to invest and at the same time we wanted to radically change strategy and philosophy.

"Focusing on youngsters, some already top players while others with that potential who can guarantee returns and results not only today, but also in the future."
