Barazite will consult Arsenal pal Van Persie about Rangers move

Nacer Barazite says he'll consult with Arsenal teammate Robin van Persie if Rangers make him a contract offer.

The Dutch midfielder is currently trialling with Gers.

"Robin van Persie is the player I look up to the most," Barazite told The Herald. "He is a very good friend of mine. I spoke to him when I was younger and first came to Arsenal and he was always there to offer me encouragement and advice.

"I haven't spoken to Robin about this possible move to Rangers as yet. He is only just back from holiday because he was obviously playing at the World Cup and was given some extra time off.

"By the time he got back, I was already on my way up to Glasgow, however, I will obviously speak with him. He's an amazing footballer and I've been working next to him every day in training at Arsenal. I wouldn't say I'm similar to van Persie because I have my own style but he is definitely one I look up to."

Having spent the last five years in London with Arsenal, Barazite appreciates that a switch to Ibrox and the Premier League will represent a big change for him. But he says it was something that excited him from the first moment it was mentioned to him.

"After Liam Brady told me about Rangers' interest, I talked things over with my family. I don't think it takes too much thinking, though, because Rangers are a big club. There are other options apart from Glasgow but I don't want to talk about this sort of stuff. I am here with Rangers and we will see what happens. Everyone in Europe knows Rangers are a very big club.

"I still have one season left at Arsenal. I was 15 when I joined but my family came with me, which was good."
