Ruben Baraja thanked Valencia fans for their farewell during victory over Tenerife.
Baraja was given a three minute standing ovation by supporters in his final appearance for the club.
"After today I am left with this as the best memory of the past ten years. It has been the most emotional and incredible moment that a player can live. I will remember it and keep this day in my heart forever," said Baraja.
"It's a happy day and has lacked nothing. The only thing is that I didn't want to leave the pitch because it felt so good that I didn't want to go. I'm excited and happy because in the end I leave Valencia satisfied with the work done and I carry this team in my heart.
"Now I want to enjoy today. There has been so much emotion that I have not stopped to think what I have experienced. From my point of view I'd like to keep playing and find a project elsewhere that will give me enough motivation to continue playing and hope to have a team next season because I feel good physically and mentally to start a new challenge elsewhere.
"All players have an expiration date, but I have hope and I hope to have the privilege to continue to enjoy this profession that is available to so few people, because in football what you really enjoy is playing."
