Bank who helped buy Liverpool to fund New York Cosmos revival

Recent reports suggest that the bank who helped George Gillett and Tom Hicks buy the Liverpool Football Club are behind a bid to have the New York Cosmos up and running again.

New York investment bank Inner Circle are believed to be helping former Tottenham Hotspur director Paul Kemsley fund his revival of the Cosmos who were in the North American Soccer League back in 1971 and famously attracted Brazilian great Pele and Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer.

The Cosmos, with this financial backing, could be back in action next year in one of the USA's lower divisions.
