Balotelli angers Man City and fans after amazing double snub

Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli snubbed their FA Cup victory parade yesterday.

The Sun says in a double insult, the £80,000-a-week star also failed to turn up for the club's end-of-season dinner on Sunday where he was due to receive the Young Player of the Year award - as voted for by the fans.

The controversial striker, recalled yesterday to the Italy squad, flew home after the final match of the season at Bolton.

Micah Richards had to pick up the honour on his behalf in front of embarrassed club officials, sponsors and disappointed supporters, who paid to be at the event.

City chief executive Garry Cook wrote to the players insisting they must attend last night's celebration.

The club were ready to fine anyone who ignored the directive.

But they are unable to punish Balotelli, 20, as boss Roberto Mancini gave him permission to fly off.

This has angered the Eastlands hierarchy.
