Germany coach Joachim Low insisted his knowledge of English football turned him into an expert spy for Germany.
He said: "I've talked to Ballack many times about individual players such as Lampard and he gave me an inside view.
"But you can only give your players so much info before their minds shut off. Some times less is more.
"Both teams know we can beat each other.
"You won't find fear in anybody's eyes either English or German - there is healthy tension.
"We respect them but we won't go into hiding or bury our heads in the sand. I'd describe my team as incredibly ambitious.
"Terry, Rooney, Lampard and Gerrard count among the best in Europe - give them space and they can't be stopped."
