Ballack denies role in Scolari Chelsea demise

Bayer Leverkusen veteran Michael Ballack insists he wasn't involved in the demise of Luiz Felipe Scolari at Chelsea.

Ballack confirms what all have long suspected: managing the egos at Chelsea is a high-risk occupation.

He himself was implicated in one supposed coup, the ousting of Luiz Felipe Scolari in January 2009. Ballack denies the role attributed to him by Scolari.

"It is totally not true," he told the Mail on Sunday. "I don't know where he got that from. It surprised me because we had a good relationship. I [just] thought he couldn't find the right chemistry with the players, what you need for this club. I said when I arrived at Chelsea that it's important that the big players don't push too much in a personal way, because that's not too good for the team. They have to step back."
