Gareth Bale was a notable absentee as Tottenham rounded off their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw against Espanyol.

Tottenham's two debutants - Roberto Soldado and Paulinho - both impressed, with the former putting the home side ahead from the penalty spot, while fellow summer signing Nacer Chadli also looked sprightly.

David Lopez denied the home side victory just before half-time with a powerful header.
