Tottenham are chasing AS Roma winger Erik Lamela.

The Sunday Telegraph says the impending arrival of Franco Baldini as Spurs' new director of football has increased the chances of signing Lamela, who worked with the Italian at Roma.

Spurs' interest in 21-year-old Lamela predates Baldini's expected appointment with manager Andre Villas?Boas also an admirer of the forward who has so far earned only one senior cap for Argentina.

Lamela also fits the mould of the kind of versatile forward that Villas-Boas likes, given he can play on the wing or through the middle.
