Bakary Sako is out for the season at Crystal Palace.

Sako has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious ankle injury, Roy Hodgson has revealed.

Palace face Newcastle United at Selhurst Park on Sunday, but they are now left threadbare with Hodgson facing a selection headache leading up to the crucial game.

"Baky's injury is a very serious one. He's fractured his ankle and damaged ligaments around it," the former England manager told reporters.

"He certainly won't play again this season and may be a doubt to be fit for the start of next."
