Baines hails Everton teammate Vaughan

Leighton Baines has heaped praise on Everton and England U21 teammate James Vaughan.

"Vaughany is still such a young lad but he's already achieved some great things," Baines told evertonfc.com. "He came off the bench against Birmingham and got a goal from nothing.

"Aside from being gifted, he gives 110 per cent all the time. You don't always get that.

"To have someone with as much ability as him who is willing to graft and get about the pitch for the team is fantastic.

"He doesn't help himself at times as he'll get a niggle and want to keep on playing but that's natural as he's got so much enthusiasm."

Baines, himself still only 22, predicts an extremely bright future for Vaughan, despite the number of quality strikers plying their trade at Everton.

"He has got the world at his feet, there's no doubt about that," he said. "He has to get his head down and work hard as there are a lot of quality strikers at the club but that should spur him on.

"He's had some rotten luck over the years and picked up some really strange injuries.

"When you are out for long spells, it can get to you but you have to take the positives.

"Vaughany has so much time on his side and experiences like this will toughen him up.

"Though he's still got things to learn, he's proving daily that he's got everything to get to the top."
