Freddy Adu hopes his move to Brazilian club Bahia helps him push for USA selection down the track.
The 23-year old is now with his ninth professional club after departing Philadelphia Union to join Bahia and he is targeting national team selection by putting his best foot forward at club level, however, he insists that is not the main reason he is excited about strutting his stuff in Brazil.
"Hopefully [playing at Bahia] helps me get back with the national team. (But) That really wasn't why I came here," he said.
"I came here because I always had a dream to play in Brazil someday. My style of play is always compared to a Brazilian. I finally have a chance to do that. I am excited."
He added: "As of right now, I am ready to play. I have been working hard for the last month to get my fitness in order because I hadn't played in so long. I have adjusted to the weather and the speed of play here [in training]. Physically I am ready and mentally I am ready."
