Bacuna's scoring prowess the subject of praise from Villa's Lambert

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has heaped praise on Leandro Bacuna for his impressive performance in his debut season with the club.

The Dutchman has made 27 appearances for Villa since his summer arrival from FC Groningen, operating mainly as a right-back, and his efforts have been praise by Lambert who touched on his ability to score goals.

"It's his first time in the league and he's been a big bonus for us, Leo," Lambert told the Birmingham Mail.

"Five goals from right-back, he's done great.

"If you look at his goal against Norwich (on March 2), him and Andi Weimann virtually start parallel with each other near the 18-yard box.

"Gabby Agbonlahor ends up passing it to Andi who slips Leo in. It was a great goal, that, and the fitness levels were great.

"Leo's got that, as everybody knows. To chip in with the amount of goals he has done has been brilliant.

"I've not worked with Leo for that long but he's definitely got that kind of energy in him, as he's proved."
