Ryan Babel is convinced he has a future at Liverpool under manager Roy Hodgson.
The £11.5million signing from Ajax looked increasingly marginalised towards the end of Rafa Benitez's reign.
Speaking ahead of Thursday's return meeting with Trabzonspor, Babel, 23, hailed the new regime of openness under Hodgson.
"I didn't expect to come off, but that was the manager's choice," he said. "He was pretty direct about that and said Fernando Torres was going to play in the second half. He already had that in mind even if I played well.
"I have been through a difficult time at Liverpool, but I look upon this year as a new chapter for me."
