Babel to depart Liverpool for Hoffenheim

Liverpool winger Ryan Babel has agreed to move to German Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim.

The Holland international has been linked with the club for a few weeks now but it seemed the moment had passed for a transfer, especially after Reds manager Kenny Dalglish said Babel was staying put.

But a statement on the English Premier League’s official website confirmed that Babel would indeed be joining Hoffenheim.

"Ryan Babel has agreed a move to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. The Dutch international will fly to Germany tomorrow to finalise the deal,” it read.

"The move comes six days after Liverpool accepted a bid for the 24 year old striker from the Bundesliga outfit."

After Dalglish said there would be no transfer, Hoffenheim worked quickly to get their man after Demba Ba departed for West Ham United on a six-month loan.

Babel will be hoping a fresh start and new environment are the changes he needs to resurrect his career which seemed to be flailing at Anfield.
