Azzurri draw Brazil in FIFA Confederations Cup

Reigning World Champions Italy will meet Brazil in next year's Confederations Cup. Released yesterday by FIFA, the draw for the Cup saw Italy in Group B along with Brazil, Egypt and USA.

Italy manager Marcello Lippi was pleased to draw the South American giants.

Speaking to Rai Sport, Lippi said: "I had dreamed before the 2006 World Cup in Germany of facing Brazil in the Final, but our paths did not cross.

"Now it will be a pleasure to meet them both in February's friendly in London and the Confederations Cup. Do not forget Egypt are also a very dangerous side in that competition.

"We can improve as a team and above all go through that process against great sides. However, let us remember the primary objective is qualifying for the 2010 World Cup. Some say it is easy, but football never goes according to plan."
