AZ have heard nothing more from Tottenham after failed first bid for Janssen

AZ Alkmaar sporting director Max Huiberts has revealed that Tottenham have not placed a follow-up bid for Vincent Janssen.

Tottenham are keen on signing Janssen this summer but it had recently emerged that Spurs had a bid of around £16million for the striker rejected.

The Premier League outfit returning with an improved bid seemed to be very likely but according to AZ chief Huiberts, the Dutch club have not heard anything back from Tottenham regarding Janssen.

Huiberts told Noordhollands Dagblad: "There is a lot of speculation and I read a lot of nonsense stories.

"We received one bid from Tottenham Hotspur that we have not accepted.

"That's not so strange to me. It is not often that a club agrees immediately with a first offer. Then we heard nothing more.

"No, that's not us. If you want to buy something, you have to go to the store. The store does not belong to you."
