AZ Alkmaar are in advanced talks for Newcastle Jets midfielder James Holland. The Newcastle Herald says Holland lines up for the struggling A-League champions against the Queensland Roar tomorrow before jetting out to The Netherlands on Monday for a trial and medical.
If, as expected, the deal is finalised, Holland would be the second Jets player to head overseas after Jade North yesterday signed off on a three-year contract with Korean club Incheon United.
"It is a great opportunity for him," said Jets boss Gary van Egmond.
"You are really happy to see players go overseas. If we were to lose players to rival A-league clubs it would be more of a concern.
"James is now the second person following Jado. There are plenty more with potential to go down the track."
