Ayew agent confirms failed Sunderland bid for Swansea star

Sunderland will try again for Swansea City attacker Andre Ayew in the summer.

Swansea have blocked the sale so far for Ayew who has scored eight goals this season following his free transfer move from Marseille and has played a pivotal role in their fight to stay in the Premier League, says the Mail on Sunday.

His agent Mark McKay said: "I'm surprised Andre is still at Swansea in a way.

"Sam Allardyce, a manager I have great respect for, made a very good proposal but Swansea have been determined to keep him.

"Sam recognised that he is a player of talent and character who has continued to perform well in a struggling side.

"He has proven in his career he has the mentality and ability to perform on the big stage whether it's the Premier League, Champions League or World Cup and that has attracted interest from a lot of big clubs.

'"Time is running out though if they are to try to sign him by Monday."
