Roberto Ayala has slammed Real Zaragoza coach Jose Aurelio Gay after his contract release.

The former Argentina captain is currently a free agent after being released by Zaragoza last week.

"I always put the welfare of Zaragoza ahead of myself," said Ayala. "The new coach was not clear or straightforward with me and showed no respect towards me, something I was surprised by.

"He had no contact with me, never said hello to me, either as captain or as a team member and then said I was not involved."
