AWESOME! Richards pledges £20,000 to charity thanks to Man City fans' support

Manchester City defender Micah Richards has caught the Christmas spirit by pledging £20,000 to charity.

The Daily Mail says Richards was handed a start against Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night but his evening was cut short when was forced off with a hamstring problem after just sixteen minutes, with City trailing 2-0.

The defender looked devastated by his latest injury blow, although his spirits will have been raised by City's magnificent comeback, as his team recovered to win 3-2 in Munich.

After the match, Richards tweeted: 'Am sorry City fans.'

His apologetic message was greeted with dozens of supportive messages, as City fans showed their appreciation for a homegrown player that has been with the club since the age of 14.
