Rayo Vallecano are coming to the rescue of a an elderly local resident, who has been evicted from her home.
Carmen, 85, was evicted on Friday morning after defaulting on a loan repayment for her son.
Rayo Vallecano manager Paco Jémez said: "We won't stand by and watch. We'll do what we can to help her find a place where she can live with dignity and show her that she isn't alone. Not just me, but the rest of the coaching staff and the players as well.
"I know that hers is not an isolated case. The worst thing that can happen to a family is for them to lose their home. She has lived there for fifty years and now she's been evicted just for co-signing a loan for her son, something we'd all do in her situation. It's something we should all keep in mind."
Jemez added: "I'm proud to be able to help. We'd like to help more people though it's not always possible. But this is a special case. She's a local resident and as a club we can't turn our backs. We're very conscious of the fact that what has happened to her can happen to anyone. We'll do all we can."
