With a bit more support, Avi Cohen believes he could have achieved a lot more at Liverpool.
Cohen's son, Tamir, is now impressing in Bolton Wanderers' midfield.
And Avi told The Times of his move to Anfield: "It's like a man stepping on the moon.
"It wasn't real. I said to my agent, 'Why did they ask me to come here?'
"I didn't think I deserved to play for Liverpool - even when I played I thought they were much better than me. Nobody said to me, 'Avi, you're better than them.' That's what I tell Tamir now. In those days I was exceptional in Israel. Liverpool thought I could make it but nobody told me what I needed to do to survive.
"I was alone, nobody helped me. If I had my father, like Tamir has, I would have stayed there ten or 12 years. I thought I could go back to Israel, then come back to any club, but it wasn't like that."
