Austria Vienna's Holland eyeing World Cup as potential shop window

Austria Vienna midfielder James Holland believes playing at the World Cup may put him in a good position to land a move to a bigger European club.

The 25-year old has lofty ambitions of playing in a higher quality competition than the Austrian Bundesliga and will be doing everything he can to make the final 23 of the Socceroos squad for Brazil 2014.

Holland has been continually improving for Vienna since arriving from AZ Alkmaar in 2012 and although he admits he would like to take the next step, he'd only consider a move away from the Franz Horr Stadium if it were to suit his sporting objectives.

"I suppose, in football, your whole world can change in 24 hours," Holland said.

"The World Cup can give you that opportunity and present you with some good opportunities . . . so hopefully it comes to fruition.

"I suppose it's an amazing opportunity, so hopefully I can do well and put myself in good stead to get there and play even, like I said, I've been feeling good the last couple of months."

Holland, who played in the Champions League this season, added: "I've still got one year left on my contract - personally, I'd probably like to make a move but I only want to make a right move so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

"I guess I don't want to make a move just to make a move. I want to make a move where I'll have the chance to play, it will be with the football I like to play."
