Australian youngster Smith living his dream at Liverpool

Liverpool Under-21s coach Michael Beale believes that Australian youngster Brad Smith is living the dream by experiencing first team action with the Reds.

Smith is one of the young players who has managed to impress during the cup competitions for Liverpool and many now believe that the 21-year-old is good enough to challenge Alberto Moreno for the regular left-back spot in the Premier League as well.

Beale has been left delighted with the four-time Australia international's progress and has revealed that the youngster has been 'living the dream' of late by forcing his way into Jurgen Klopp's side.

Beale told the Liverpool Echo: "Brad has been fantastic.

"His crossing has had a huge impact, as well as his speed and aggression. Training at Melwood every day has certainly helped him. He knows he has the backing of the manager.

"One big thing Jurgen did was that he took four or five youngsters to Melwood and kept them there. They have grown as a result.

"We're doing our best 'Jurgen impression' at the Academy in terms of what he wants here. But there's nothing better than hearing it from the manager himself.

"Training alongside more experienced players certainly helps too. Tactical understanding comes from playing with older, more experienced players. Lucas can put a player in a position where they don't need to run so much.

"If you are going to improve your one v one defending, it's great to go up against Ryan Kent but it's another step up to face Philippe Coutinho.

"It's always been Brad's dream to play for Liverpool and now he's living that."
