Holger Osieck has named his 23-man Australian squad for next month’s Asian Cup in Qatar.

The German tactician has included 12 players from Pim Verbeek’s World Cup squad to take to the Middle East for the tournament in which Australia are one of the top three chances along with South Korea and Japan.

19 players based overseas and four from the local A-League have been named in the team which will assemble for a pre-tournament training camp in Dubai from Monday 3 January 2011. That camp will include an international friendly match against the UAE at the Khalifa Stadium in Al Ain, UAE on Wednesday 5 January 2011 (Kick-off 6:30pm local, 1:30am AEDT).

The Socceroos will arrive in Doha, Qatar on Thursday 6 January and will play their opening match of Group C against India on Monday 10 January (4:15pm local, 12:15am AEDT), followed by the Korea Republic on Friday 14 January (4:15pm local, 12:15am AEDT) and their final group match against Bahrain on Tuesday 18 January ,(4:15pm local, 12:15am AEDT).
