Australian match fixer given jail term

A Malaysian man who organised an international match-fixing syndicate involving Australian state football games in 2013 has been jailed for at least a year. Segaran "Gerry" Subramaniam, 46, pleaded guilty to fixing six Victorian Premier League matches last year.

In March, two English footballers were banned for life by Fifa after helping fix games for the global betting syndicate. Reiss Noel and Joe Woolley pleaded guilty to conduct that corrupts a betting outcome in December.
