Australian keeper Cisak targets Premier League

Burnley goalkeeper Alex Cisak believes he should be playing in the English Premier League.

The 24-year old Poland-born Australian is currently playing second string to Tom Heaton at Turf Moor with the Clarets sitting second on the Championship table.

Cisak has made just one league appearance for Burnley this season, coming on when Heaton was red-carded against Brighton & Hove Albion in August, but he feels he is well-prepared to play in England's top flight.

"It's been the aim for a long time now," the former Leicester City, Accrington Stanley and Oldham Athletic gloveman told FourFourTwo.

"I won the EPL academy title with Leicester City way back in 06-07, and it would be great to be able to play in the EPL at first team level too.

"I don't doubt that I belong there, and hopefully it can be with Burnley next season."

Cisak needs to force his way into Sean Dyche's Clarets first team before setting his sights on the Premier League but he is well aware that he has to bide his time to wrangle the gloves from former Manchester United youth Heaton.

"I'm in the best shape I've ever been," he added.

"I've performed when called upon this season, but Tom is having a belter of a year so I just have to keep working hard to stake my claim.

"That's always the decision of the manager. There's no doubting I am able to hold down the number one position, but it's not for me to decide."
