Australia national team skipper Lucas Neill may be facing groin surgery after an injury ruled him out for the remainder of the season at club level. The Galatasaray defender will not play again in the Tukish Super Lig this campaign and may also miss the upcoming internationals for the Socceroos who take on neighbours New Zealand and then Serbia in June.
33-year old Neill is back in Sydney to receive treatment for the problem and it is believed that surgery could be an option which would mean he will certainly not play in the Australia double-header, like Everton's Tim Cahill who has ruled himself out of the trip down under.
The injury has also put a cloud on the Galatasaray future of Neill who, along with teammate Harry Kewell, comes out of contract at the end of the current season.
